Kalayü is spoken as both a native language and lingua franca by the Kalayü. It is a Sino-Xenic creole that originated in Kripatra that is a mixture of Cantonese, Hakka, Taishanese, and Vietnamese.

Kalayü means in Kalayü, "Language of Kripatra". This is because the Kalayü language developed and evolved in Kripatra due to the large amount of immigrants.
